STEP UP! (Supporting the Transformation of Food Systems in Malawi) is a GIZ-implemented project that supports governance and systems thinking across Malawi’s food systems. The project aims to strengthen both national and district-level structures to promote inclusive, sustainable, and nutrition-sensitive transformation.
The project operates in Mzimba, Dedza, and Chikwawa districts and engages nationally with the Department of Nutrition (DN) as the main political partner, alongside the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) and the National Planning Commission (NPC).
To nurture future talent, the project offers internship opportunities to recent graduates in Food Science and Nutrition to enhance their readiness for professional roles in Malawi’s food systems and development sectors.
The internship aims to provide a practical learning platform for a fresh graduate by supporting the STEP UP! team in project coordination, documentation, learning, and stakeholder engagement at both district and national levels.
The intern will work under the guidance of the project team to perform the following tasks:
The internship is for six (6) months, starting from the date of appointment.
The intern will be based in Lilongwe, with frequent travel to Mzimba, Dedza, and Chikwawa districts.
