Clerk of Works
AWW Limited is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill fifteen (15) Clerk of Works consultancy positions. The successful candidates will be engaged in the supervision of ongoing construction projects across various districts.
Positions: Clerk of Works – Individual Consultants (15 posts)
Location: Various Districts (Karonga, Mzimba, Nkhata-Bay, Kasungu, Mchinji, Lilongwe, Salima, Mangochi, Zomba, Blantyre, and Chiradzulu)

Required Qualifications and Attributes
- Diploma in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Technology, or Quantity Surveying.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- High level of integrity and accountability.
- Strong report writing skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
- Good knowledge of IT tools relevant to construction supervision.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-contract meetings with contractors.
- Provide geodetic data for the accurate location of project components.
- Verify setting out works and levels; take required measurements for final quantities.
- Review and assess the contractor’s work schedule and progress programs.
- Evaluate adequacy of materials, labour, and methods used by contractors, and recommend corrective actions when needed.
- Prepare and submit monthly progress reports to the Project Manager.
- Compute and verify quantities of completed work and recommend approval of payment certificates.
- Review and advise on contractor claims related to extensions, variations, or additional compensation.
- Recommend changes to contract documents, including cost and time implications.
- Inform the Project Manager of issues arising during construction and propose solutions.
- Maintain full-time site supervision to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
- Guide contractors on interpretation of contract documents and ensure quality control.
- Organise and manage individual inspectors for effective site supervision.
- Keep detailed reports and records of contractor performance and project progress.
- Review working and temporary works drawings.
- Organise material testing and ensure compliance with contract quality standards.
- Inspect safety measures on site to protect life and property.
- Perform any additional supervisory duties necessary to ensure proper project execution.
- Prepare snag lists for project completion and handover
